W.E.

W.E. is a movie that tells the story of two couples who are deeply in love, but face obstacles that threaten to tear them apart. The film takes place in two different time periods, 1930s England and 1990s New York City. In the past, King Edward VIII (James D'Arcy) abdicates the throne to be with his love, Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough), an American divorcee. In the present, Wally Winthrop (Abbie Cornish) is a young wife who becomes obsessed with the love story of Edward and Wallis after attending an auction of their estate. Wally's marriage to William (Abbie Cornish) is unhappy and loveless, and she finds comfort in her fantasies of Edward and Wallis' love. As Wally delves deeper into their story, she gains courage to pursue her own happiness and eventually finds love with a guard named Evgeni (Oscar Isaac). The film explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the power of true love to overcome obstacles.
