Akeem Sharp, a talented Jamaican teenager, dreams of becoming a track-and-field sensation. With the support of his coach and mother, who has lived illegally in the US for over a decade, Akeem hopes to rise to the top and reunite with his family. But his journey is threatened by the unstable dynamics at home, including a volatile father and an older brother who insinuates himself into Akeem's career.
