Cane Fire

"Cane Fire" is a documentary that delves into the rich history of Kauai, an island in Hawaii, through the lens of four generations of family history, Hollywood productions, and found footage. The film sheds light on the economic and cultural forces that have relegated Indigenous and working-class residents to the sidelines, exploring themes of identity, power, and representation. By interweaving these various perspectives, "Cane Fire" creates a kaleidoscopic portrait of a community struggling to assert its voice and reclaim its narrative.
