No Me Gusta, Mami
20min - For many, the suburbs are seen as a perfect slice of heaven, but for one teenage transplant from New York City, the suburbs represent a unique version of hell. Forget purgatory -- this is suburgatory, or so it seemed to 16-year-old Tessa Altman (series star JANE LEVY), when her father, George Altman (series star JEREMY SISTO), uprooted them from their beloved apartment in New York City to move to the anything-but-urban town of Chatswin. But behind the beautiful homes and perfect lawns of Chatswin lurk the Franken-moms and Red Bull-guzzling teens who have nothing in common with Tessa and George. It's a whole new world, one that makes George wonder if they haven't jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. In Chatswin, Tessa and George draw all sorts of attention from overly friendly suburbanites, like the blonde, bronzed and buxom Dallas Royce (series star CHERYL HINES), who takes Tessa shopping and falls for George, and Dallas' daughter, Dalia Royce (series star CARLY CHAIKIN), Tessa's frenemy who has never met a miniskirt she didn't like. But little by little, Tessa and her dad find a way to survive on the clean streets of the 'burbs. Sure, alpha neighbors Sheila Shay (series star ANA GASTEYER) and Fred Shay (series star CHRIS PARNELL) might go a little overboard with the holiday decorations, planning committee meetings and overzealous support for their son, Ryan (recurring guest star PARKER YOUNG -- Enlisted, Mad Men), but underneath the perfectly cultivated exteriors, they're really not half bad. Tessa even finds friends: the Shay's daughter, Lisa (series star ALLIE GRANT), who laments sharing DNA with her parents, and Malik (recurring guest star MAESTRO HARRELL -- The Wire), who goes to Tessa's school and is Lisa's boyfriend. Meanwhile, George's old pal Noah Werner (recurring guest star ALAN TUDYK -- Firefly, Serenity, 42, Knocked Up) is pleased to find George beginning to indulge in some of the perks the suburbs have to offer. With the help of these suburbanites, George and Tessa learned to navigate the pitfalls of suburban life and, with time, they realized life in Chatswin wasn't so bad. But George and Tessa slowly started to become what they swore they would never be: suburbanites. The line between the Altmans and the rest of Chatswin got blurry. And by the end of season two, it would seem these characters almost lost everything, including each other. In the third season premiere, after Tessa's mom disappears, George tries to rebuild his relationship with Tessa and he introduces her to his new dog. When Sheila Shay discovers that there's a dog on the loose in Chatswin, she dedicates herself to tracking this canine fiend and it is up to Tessa and George to protect the dog. Meanwhile, Dalia shuns Dallas after breaking up with "Daddy Altman." Recurring guest star NATASHA LEGGERO (He's Just Not That Into You, Burning Love) appears as Nora. Recurring guest star BUNNIE RIVERA (Ray Donovan) appears as Carmen.
