What is On the Air about? 
In 1957, the cast and crew of "The Lester Guy Show" are preparing for their first live television broadcast on the Zoblotnick Broadcasting Co. network. Lester Guy, the show's star, is determined to sabotage supporting actress Betty Hudson's career, fearing she will outshine him. Meanwhile, producer Dwight McGonigle discovers Betty's talent and brings her onto the show, but Lester continues to plot against her. While rehearsing for the broadcast, tensions run high, personalities clash and accidents occur. Despite the chaos, the cast and crew must work together to put on a successful show for the American public who adores Betty Hudson. David Lynch directed only two of the seven episodes. Will the show survive its first broadcast, or will ego and sabotage destroy it?
