Those who enjoyed the first will find the second chapter perfectly serviceable and, to Wan’s credit, he’s capable of generating plenty of chills without resorting to gore.

It’s bigger, spookier, meaner, and ten times more horrifying than its predecessor, making me seriously regret not forcing someone to come with me for, um, moral support?

With Wan confidently orchestrating jump scares and bonkers plot twists, this is hugely hokey horror fun that's the match of the original.
