L'emprise tells the story of Alexandra, a mother of four children, who is on trial for the murder of her husband. For 17 years, she suffered constant physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her husband, who was supposed to love and protect her. One night, she reached her breaking point and killed him in self-defense. Now, she must face the justice system and prove that she acted out of necessity to save her own life and that of her children. Through this powerful and emotional film, we see the failure of society to protect Alexandra and her children from the monster that lived among them. Will she be heard?
