In the 1950s, two free-spirited artists, Katharina and Freddy, met while traveling in Polynesia. They fell passionately in love, and their relationship was fueled by their shared desire to live life on their own terms. Katharina became a famous reporter and illustrator, while Freddy pursued his passion for photography. As they settled in an old priory in Romainmôtier, Switzerland, with their daughter, their relationship was put to the test. While Katharina threw herself into restoring the impressive building, Freddy grew increasingly disillusioned with their isolated life in the small town. A intense crisis ensued, leading to a painful breakup. Freddy left Katharina behind to start a new life on the southern coast of England, but their love for each other refused to fade.
