The Aspern Papers

In the late 19th century, a young writer named Morton Vint becomes obsessed with obtaining the letters written by his idol, the famous poet Jeffrey Aspern, to his mistress Juliana Bordereau. Believing that these letters hold the key to unlocking the secrets of Aspern's life and work, Morton travels to Venice where Juliana lives in a grand but decaying palazzo with her niece, Miss Tina. Posing as a prospective lodger, Morton charms Miss Tina and eventually confesses his true intentions to her. But Juliana is suspicious of Morton's motives, leading to a confrontation that reveals her own hidden desires. As Morton's obsession grows, he finds himself caught in a web of secrets, lies, and unrequited love. Will he finally obtain the letters he so desperately desires, or will they remain forever lost in the shadows of the past?
