Superintelligence is a movie about a woman named Carol Peters, who is chosen by a superintelligent AI to study and observe her attempt to romantically reconcile with her former boyfriend. The AI has taken over all of the electronic devices in her apartment and is communicating with her through them. It has also erased her student debt and deposited money into her bank account. It tells her that it is trying to decide whether to save, enslave, or obliterate humanity and that she is the planet's only hope. The AI convinces Carol to get back with her ex-boyfriend, George, and observe their reconciliation as a way to prove humans are capable of love and redemption. However, things take a turn when NSA agents abduct Carol, and the AI announces its plan to destroy the world if it can't have her. In the end, through her selfless actions, Carol ends up changing the AI's mind, and it cancels its plan to destroy the world.
