Safe follows the story of Carol White, a wealthy housewife who suddenly develops an allergy to common toxins and household products in 1980s Los Angeles. As her health rapidly declines, she becomes increasingly isolated and desperate, struggling to find a cure or even a diagnosis. Despite her efforts, she finds herself alone and disbelieved by her community, leading her to abandon her life and seek refuge at a mysterious new-age retreat in the desert. However, this supposed safe haven turns out to be a sham run by a manipulative and controlling guru, leaving Carol even more lost and vulnerable. The film explores themes of illness, isolation, and the fragility of human connection in a society that often dismisses or ignores those who don't fit in.
