In the descriptive movie description, a man's week-long attempt to wean his junkie friend off drugs in an isolated cabin yields mysterious and ominous results as objects and clues planted in the cabin teasingly hint at a darker resolution. In this movie, a man who is a graphic designer in the city receives a video of his delusional and erratic drug-addict friend who has retreated to a remote rural area. Despite his wife's objections, he makes one last attempt to save him. He promises to return after one week and follows the map included with the video. At his destination, Michael hears Chris ranting and shooting a pistol. Chris invites Michael in and starts ranting about various subjects. When Chris refuses to go into rehab, Michael subdues him with a stun gun, handcuffs him, and says that he will make Chris go cold turkey to get sober. In the morning, Micah and Billy arrive, ask for drugs that Chris is holding, and are driven off by Michael. Chris warns against messing with them, saying they have become violent and unpredictable. As he takes a walk, Michael meets members of an by religion, then returns to the house finding a set of strange photographs. Micah tries to return, but Charles, a tribal security guard, chases them off while accepting Michael's bribe in exchange for letting them stay for five days.. After discovering disturbing film footage, Chris denies sending any emails or videos. A book full of campfire stories is found on their doorstep when Michael returns the book; film slides are found in its place when he returns to the library. Confused by the items seemingly left for them to find, Michael suggests it's pranks by Billy and Micah which Chris dismisses.. Michael continues to find clues strewn about the area where he bribes Charles for information. Charles warns him against digging into the past saying that French students used it for research before leaving. Michael re-watches the video he received via e-mail and finds it changed with a recording of an argument he and Chris had moments before.. Billy and Micah return, kill the dog that adopted Chris, and reveal that Chris is suicidal.. Michael tracks down Byron: the dog's original owner from the archeology team. Byron suggests that something there desires stories instead of being haunted as an area. He believes "something" there desires stories. While reflecting himself and Michael's image into an infinity of reflections using a small and a large mirror, Byron expresses eccentricity as he stresses~ the need for story elements. Unnerved, Michael leaves. More clues appear from nowhere making the film projector turn on depicting their gruesome deaths along with funeral photos. The laptop depicts beating deaths. The two flee finding a CD with a recording of murder and house burning. Michael doesn't want to bring the curse home and wants to appease it instead. Returning to the house they witness Charles and a companion killing Micah and Billy before setting fire to the house. Chris breaks down, agrees finally to go to rehab . . . Their joy over achieving story's happy ending is cut short when the entity angrily confronts them. Chris kneels before it apologizing profusely; Michael asks the entity if they can try again resulting in a creature roar in response.
