Rajma Chawal

Rajma Chawal is a heartwarming drama-comedy film that explores the complexities of intergenerational relationships and the power of social media in bridging gaps between family members. The movie follows Raj Mathur (Rishi Kapoor), a widower who is struggling to connect with his resentful millennial son, Kabir (Anirudh Tanwar). In an effort to revive their relationship, Raj creates a fake social media profile of a young woman named Tara and befriends Kabir online. As Raj pretends to be Tara, he begins to understand Kabir's struggles and interests, which he had previously neglected due to his own grief over his wife's death. Meanwhile, Seher (Amyra Dastur), the real-life persona of Tara, is dealing with her own personal problems as she is exploited by her abusive boyfriend Baljeet. However, when Kabir discovers Seher's identity, he finds himself drawn to her and begins to question their relationship. The film takes a turn when Raj's friends try to persuade him to help Kabir with Seher, but he insults and rebuffs them, causing Kabir to break up with Seher and focus on his music career instead. As Kabir's depression and lack of motivation take a toll on his health, Raj pretends that he has a heart attack in an attempt to bring Kabir back home. When Kabir returns, he finds Seher returning his father's money, leading to a confrontation between the two. Eventually though, they have an honest conversation which leads them to return to each other while also reconciling with their past issues and understanding each other better. Overall, this film will make you laugh and cry as it highlights how, despite the challenges we face in our lives, we always have a chance to mend our relationships with the ones we love through effective communication & understanding.
