In 1944, Spanish filmmaker Manuel Hernández Sanjuán embarked on an expedition to colonial Africa, driven by rumors of a mystical lake said to be home to 10,000 elephants. He hired a young Guinean guide, Angono Mba, and together they braved the unknown, capturing their journey through a blend of animation, photographs, and raw footage. Seventy years later, Angono relives their adventure, weaving a magical tale of myths and power, while also offering a raw account of life under colonial rule.
