In 1983, 13-year-old Oliver Nicholas is on the cusp of adulthood in New York City, eager to explore his sexuality, taste alcohol, and maybe even find love. But when his beloved housekeeper and mentor, Aida, suffers a devastating stroke, Oliver's world is turned upside down. As he struggles to navigate his new roles as "man of the house" and caregiver, he's surrounded by women who are struggling with their own demons. His unconventional mother, Luna, is more interested in being a confidante than a parent, while his sister, Daisy, is dealing with the fallout of their parents' divorce. As Oliver tries to maintain his sanity and sense of self, he's faced with a series of difficult choices that will shape his future.
