Manhattan Murder Mystery

Carol Lipton (Diane Keaton), an elegant Manhattan housewife, becomes convinced that her neighbor's wife, Lillian House (Lynn Cohen), was murdered after she dies unexpectedly from a heart attack despite being in good health. Ignoring her skeptical husband Larry's (Woody Allen) dismissal of her suspicions, Carol recruits their flirtatious friend Ted (Alan Alda) to help her investigate Lillian's death while Larry becomes increasingly irritated with Carol's persistence; but when they question Paul House (Jerry Adler), Lillian's husband, they find an urn containing Lillian's ashes, contradicting his story about her burial. As they dig deeper, they uncover a web of deceit, and their investigation takes them to Paris, where they follow a trail of clues that lead them to a surprising culprit.
