Set in rural England in 1865, Lady Macbeth tells the story of Katherine, a young woman trapped in a loveless marriage to an older man. When her husband and his father, Boris, leave the estate for business, Katherine finally has the freedom to explore and soon discovers a passionate affair with one of the workers on the estate, Sebastian.
