In 17th century Japan, a young ninja named Kamui abandons his clan and flees to a seaside village seeking refuge from his former life. He befriends a fisherman named Hanbei and his family, but his past soon catches up with him. With assassins hot on his trail, Kamui must use his ninja skills to protect himself and those he has come to care about. But as he fights for survival, he realizes that his actions may have severe consequences for those around him. Will he be able to escape the shadows of his past or will he succumb to the violent fate that awaits him?
