Frequently asked questions
What is Jung_E about?
In a post-apocalyptic future, humanity has retreated to artificial shelters after climate change rendered Earth uninhabitable. A civil war rages between the Allied Forces and the Adrian Republic, with both sides employing AI-powered mercenaries. Captain Yun Jung-yi, a legendary mercenary, is gravely injured and comatose. Her daughter, Yun Seo-hyun, agrees to clone her brain to create an AI mercenary, code-named Jung_E, in the hopes of memorializing her mother's heroism. Thirty-five years later, Dr. Yun Seo-hyun leads the Jung_E research project, but the AI continues to fail in simulations of its final mission. Seo-hyun learns that her own cancer has returned and that the company developing Jung_E is shifting focus to household services now that peace is approaching. Desperate to succeed, Seo-hyun escapes the facility with a Jung_E robot, pursued by combat robots and security forces. During their escape, Seo-hyun learns that her mother's personality and memories are still present within the AI. As they flee, Seo-hyun is shot and urges Jung_E to leave her and survive. The AI shows unexpected affection before escaping and hiding atop a rocky mountain range. Seo-hyun dies shortly afterward, but not before realizing that her mother's spirit lives on through the AI mercenary she created. Jung_E provides a thought-provoking exploration of humanity's relationship with artificial intelligence as it delves into themes of identity, memory, sacrifice, love, death, grief , and what it means to be alive
