"I Am Thalente" is a powerful documentary that follows the journey of Thalente Biyela, a young skateboarder from South Africa who is determined to rise above his difficult circumstances and become a professional skateboarder. Despite being homeless since the age of nine and being illiterate, Thalente finds solace in skateboarding and uses it as a way to express himself and connect with others. When a chance encounter with pro-skater Kenny Anderson presents an opportunity for Thalente to travel to America and pursue his dreams, he must put his heart and soul to the test to make it happen. Through Thalente's eyes, we see the resilience and determination it takes to overcome adversity and shape one's own future.
