Des Hoyaa Pardes

In the midst of political turmoil and violence, a Sikh family struggles to survive and maintain their innocence in the face of false accusations. Gurshan Singh Somal, a peaceful farmer, is arrested and beaten by the corrupt police, despite his claims of innocence. His sister, Guddi, is also imprisoned and beaten when she tries to plead for his release. With the help of an American friend, Gurshan is able to escape to the United States and apply for political asylum. However, when he receives news that his father is ill and may not survive, Gurshan is faced with an impossible decision: risk losing his asylum and possible death at the hands of the Punjab Police, or leave his family behind and live in safety in America.
