Charlie's Country

In the remote wilderness of northern Australia, an Aboriginal man named Charlie struggles to preserve his traditional way of life amidst the encroachment of modern society. When his spear is confiscated by the police, he decides to leave his community and live in the bush, only to fall ill and be forced back into the modern world. Upon his return, he is arrested for buying alcohol illegally for other Aboriginal people who are banned from doing so. After serving his time, Charlie agrees to teach traditional dances to young Aboriginal boys, fearing the loss of their cultural identity. A powerful and poignant exploration of the ongoing impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities.
