In "Awake," a young man named Eiichi discovers a new passion for computer programming after encountering an AI-based shogi computer program. Eiichi's journey takes him to an AI research club, where he meets a senior student named Isono, who teaches him the ways of programming. With his newfound skills, Eiichi sets his sights on creating a top shogi computer program. Years later, Eiichi's hard work pays off when he wins a computer shogi competition, and he receives a challenge to play against his former rival, Riku. Will Eiichi's AI program be able to defeat the talented shogi player who once defeated him?
