In the infamous 1983 boxing match between Billy Collins Jr. and Luis Resto, Resto's tampered gloves left Collins severely injured and ultimately led to his death. More than two decades later, Resto, still haunted by the events, reveals the truth about that fateful night and exposes the dark side of boxing. The documentary follows Resto as he recounts the events to his family and seeks forgiveness, while also examining the disparity between Resto's life and that of his trainer, Panama Lewis. Through interviews and archival footage, "Assault in the Ring" uncovers a web of deceit and raises questions about the motives behind the tampering and whether justice was truly served.
