Akale

Akale tells the story of Rose, a young woman with a disability, and her journey towards self-discovery and love. Growing up in a small town in Kerala, Rose is sheltered by her protective mother Margaret, who fears for her daughter's future. When Rose's brother Neil brings home his colleague Freddy for dinner, Rose is immediately drawn to him, and a romance blossoms. But fate has other plans, and Rose's hopes are shattered when she learns that Freddy is already engaged to someone else. Crushed by the news, Rose withdraws into her shell, leaving Margaret devastated and feeling guilty for pushing her daughter into a relationship that was doomed from the start. Years later, Neil, now a successful writer, returns to his hometown and learns that Rose has passed away. He is left to confront the memories of his sister's tragic life and the choices he made that contributed to her fate. Through a series of flashbacks, Akale takes the audience on a poignant journey of love, loss, and regret, raising questions about the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing the moments we have with the people we love.
