In a small Chinese town, a financial crisis forces a shoe factory to close its doors. Zhang Xiaojun loses his job; Then, a supermarket guard beats him up, mistaking him for a thief. Without success, he asks the super manager for financial compensation. Zhang's dream is to return to his village and become a farmer, but he gets arrested by the police moments before his departure.
