...keeps to the established paradigm that the living are far worse than the dead, then goes on a gonzo excursion through a wrecked city.

Waves of zombies rushing heroes in a dark tunnel, falling from a bridge, or even being caught in the moonlight through a window are what people will remember from “Peninsula.”

The zombies, when they come, are still a twisted pleasure to watch, writhing and unpredictable, and returning director Yeon Sang-ho still has a great eye for set-pieces.

There’s pathos.
