A career thief, Porter (Mel Gibson), is betrayed by his wife Lynn (Deborah Kara Unger) and partner Val Resnick (Gregg Henry) during a heist. Shot and left for dead, Porter survives and seeks payback against those who wronged him. He tracks down Val, who has joined a powerful criminal organization, and kills him. However, this sets off a chain reaction of retaliation from the organization and the police, who are also corrupt.
