Cut Off is a German horror-thriller movie released in 2018, directed by Franziska Schwarz. The movie follows a medical examiner, Paul Herzfeld (Moritz Bleibtreu), who finds a capsule in the head of a mutilated corpse containing a phone number and the name of his 17-year-old daughter Hannah (Zara Zrac) who has been kidnapped. Paul races against time to save his daughter while uncovering a dark and twisted plot of vengeance, abduction, rape, and murder, leading him to confront a sadistic serial killer (Robertjak Schink) who is one step ahead of him and his team. The movie is set on the isolated island of Heligoland, where a violent storm has cut off communication and transportation, adding to the tension and urgency of Paul's mission to rescue his daughter. With the help of a young cartoonist, Linda (Luisa-Céline Gaffron), and his trainee Ingolf von Appen (Markus Klauk), Paul has to unravel the mystery, facing his own demons and the tragic fate of the victims, before it's too late.
