When college basketball coach Pete Bell's team starts to lose, he's under pressure to attract new talent. But the brightest stars of the future are being secretly paid by other schools, a practice forbidden in the college game. Desperate for success, Pete makes a risky trade: under-the-table dollars for talent. He signs the nation's "blue chips," including a farmboy forward, a playmaking guard from the projects, and a 7-foot slam-dunking phenom from the bayou. With the best team money can buy, Pete must confront the consequences of his actions and decide if it's all worth it.
