Set in 1990s New York City, recent graduate Nikki abandons her law school scholarship to pursue her dream of becoming a record executive, alongside her boyfriend David, who's struggling at a top R&B station, and Dee Vee, an aspiring producer on the hunt for the next big rapper. Together, they navigate the cutthroat world of hip-hop in pursuit of their dreams.
