Young Light

In the early 1960s, Julian, a 12-year-old boy, navigates a world of adult turmoil in a working-class neighborhood in Germany's Ruhr region. As his mother and sister leave for a while, he's left alone with his father, who works in the coal mine. Julian witnesses the violence and hypocrisy of the adults around him, including his father's friends and the older girl next door. When his father invites the girl to join them for a drink, tensions rise and threaten to tear the family apart.
