The Torrent

In rural Quebec in 1922, a young man named François struggles with his mother's plans for him to become a priest, leading to a violent confrontation that renders him deaf. After his mother's death, François finds solace in an unlikely relationship with a wild and aloof young woman named Amica, who he buys from an Innu pedlar. As their bond grows stronger, François must confront the judgments of his community and confront his own inner turmoil.
