Eric Lomax's life took a drastic turn when he was captured by the Japanese during World War II and forced to work on the Thai-Burma Railway. Years after his rescue, Lomax still struggled with the trauma of his experiences, but he found solace in his love for trains and his wife, Patricia. When Finlay commits suicide, Lomax decides it's time to confront his past and sets out to find the interpreter who had tortured him.
