The Night of the Shooting Stars

In the summer of 1944, the Allies have taken control of Italy from the south, and the Germans have taken control from the north. Amidst this chaos, a group of Italians must navigate their way through WWII's deadliest time in their native Tuscany. They face a brutal conflict of loyalties, where even the most respected authority figures can no longer be trusted and seemingly trivial decisions can have fatal consequences. Through the eyes of a six-year-old girl, we see how ordinary people struggle to survive during this terrible time. This film is a powerful and vivid evocation of the experiences of many Italians during WWII and is presented in a new director-approved restoration.
