Sugar Fields

In 1948, Samuel, a young Dominican peasant, stands up to the oppressive regime of Trujillo, but his defiance comes at a terrible cost. After killing an abusive guard, he is forced to flee his home, leaving behind his wife and daughters. A year later, he returns to find his family and reclaim his land, but the journey is fraught with danger and uncertainty. Will he be able to overcome the obstacles and rebuild his life, or will the weight of history and injustice proves too much to bear?
