...a very different beast to his earlier, tennis-based ménage à trois: less straightforwardly entertaining, murkier and messier in its intentions and approach.

Craig is fully committed to the role, and he’s surrounded by some fine actors, including a barely recognisable Jason Schwartzman, saddled with a beard, sandals and heavy girth, as one of Lee’s cronies.

There’s some charm to the balls-out artifice on display; even the driblets of sweat on people’s bodies are beguilingly overdone in a Querelle-lite sort of way. And Craig certainly gives his all to Guadagnino’s vision...
