Pinocchio er Enzo D’Alòs forsøg på at føre den ikoniske trædukke tilbage til en italiensk tradition. Der er tydelig inspiration fra 1500-tallets commedia dell'arte-teater med besøg af figurer som Harlekin og Pulcinella.
