Clandestine Childhood

Clandestine Childhood is a movie that tells the story of Juan, a 12-year-old boy who lives in Argentina during the military dictatorship of the 1970s. Juan's family has returned to the country after years of exile in Cuba, where they had been part of the Montoneros, a leftist guerrilla movement fighting against the regime. They must adopt false identities to avoid being detected by the authorities, and Juan is known as Ernesto at school and in his neighborhood. He struggles to balance his dual life, between being himself and being Ernesto, and things get even more complicated when he falls in love with Maria, a classmate who only knows him by his alias. The film is a poignant portrayal of life under military rule and the sacrifices people make for their beliefs.
