Ip Man (2008) In 1930s China, Ip Man, a skilled Wing Chun martial artist, must defend his people against the brutal Japanese occupation. After using his skills to win a challenge, Ip Man becomes widely known and is forced to confront the Japanese army. He must use his abilities to protect his family and friends and stand up against the oppressive forces that threaten their way of life. With the help of his friend, Chow Ching-chuen, Ip Man trains the workers at a cotton mill in Wing Chun and successfully defends against a bandit gang led by Jin Shanzhao. When General Miura demands that Ip Man teach kung fu to Japanese soldiers, he refuses and faces even greater challenges. In the end, Ip Man emerges victorious in a climactic battle against Miura’s second-in-command Colonel Sato but ultimately loses everything he holds dear as he stands firmly for what is right in this inspiring action drama with fight scenes that leap off the screen!
