In the heart of Washington D.C., a brilliant and ruthless criminal mastermind kidnaps a senator's daughter from an exclusive private school. The kidnapper, who is also a teacher at the school, has planned every move with precision, seeking not just ransom but also recognition as a criminal genius. The case falls into the hands of retired detective and psychologist Alex Cross, who is lured back into action by the kidnapper's cunning taunts.
