Housebound

In this darkly comedic horror film, a young woman named Kylie is placed on house arrest in her childhood home after a failed ATM heist. Her mother, Miriam, convinced the house is haunted, becomes the source of Kylie's frustration until bizarre occurrences lead Kylie to believe the spirits are real. As she delves deeper into paranormal activity with the help of Amos - a security contractor - they uncover secrets involving a massacre, a former clinical psychologist at the halfway house who wears an orthodontic retainer that Kylie believes belongs to an intruder she met in the basement before, and a friendly savant named Eugene living in the household tunnels below. After Kylie confronts Dennis - her psychologist - and discovers he was an intern at Kylie's halfway house, he attempts to kill Kylie but is thwarted when Eugene hands her a weapon. She stabs Dennis and Eugene electrocutes him. Months later, Kylie's ankle monitor is removed, and Eugene has become a member of their family as Kylie and her mother have grown closer.
