Graduation

Graduation (2016) is a Romanian drama film directed by Cristian Mungiu. The movie follows Romeo Aldea, a physician living in a small Transylvanian town with his family. His daughter, Eliza, is an 18-year-old high school student who has received a scholarship to study psychology abroad in the United Kingdom. The story takes place on the eve of Eliza's final exams, when she is attacked on the street. Romeo is determined to ensure that this event does not jeopardize his daughter's future and begins a desperate search for solutions to help her pass the exams. In the process, he becomes embroiled in corruption and compromises his own principles. The film explores themes such as family, morality, and corruption in contemporary Romanian society. The movie stars Adrian Titieni, Maria Drăguș, Lia Bugnar, and Vlad Ivanov, among others. It was critically acclaimed and won several awards, including Best Director at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
