Cholai is a dark comedy that delves into the depths of human greed and corruption. Set in rural Bengal, the film revolves around a flourishing business of country liquor, known as 'Cholai', which is both cheap and highly addictive. When a batch of Cholai turns toxic, resulting in the deaths of 172 people, the government announces a lucrative compensation package for the families of the victims. The news sparks a gold rush, with everyone wanting their share of the compensation money. Amidst the chaos, a family's long-lost son reappears, seeking compensation for his role in the Maoist movement. As the villagers become increasingly consumed by their desire for wealth, the eldest son of the family, a milk seller, feels left out and decides to take drastic measures to gain his share of fame and compensation. Will he succeed, or will his actions lead to further tragedy?
