In the heart of Manhattan, a chance encounter between two 11-year-old friends, Gabe and Rosemary Telesco, sparks a whirlwind adventure of first love, karate classes, and figuring out life. With their parents preoccupied with their own issues, Gabe's father, Adam, and Rosemary's mother, Leslie - who are also friends - try to navigate their children through the ups and downs of growing up in the city that never sleeps. As Gabe and Rosemary continue their karate training under the guidance of their eccentric instructor, Master Coles, they must confront their growing feelings for each other, all while dealing with bullies, new friends - like Ronny - and a wildly unconventional nanny named Birdie who has a few tricks up her sleeve!
