1941

In the aftermath of the Pearl Harbor attack, panic grips California as a Japanese submarine surfaces off the coast. The submarine's commander, eager to destroy something "honorable" in Los Angeles, targets Hollywood. Meanwhile, a tank crew and a group of civilians, including a dishwasher and his girlfriend, become embroiled in a series of misadventures as they try to defend their country. Amidst the chaos, a United States Army Air Forces captain wildly cruises his Curtiss P-40 Warhawk around the western states in search of Japanese forces. As the public's fear and paranoia reach a fever pitch, Major General Joseph W. Stilwell attempts to calm the population, but his efforts may be too little, too late.
