The Mist isn’t really interested about what’s outside, trying to get in, but what’s inside, trying to get out.

By catching his protagonists between equally oppressive horrors, Darabont successfully finds the squelchy heart of King's story, and keeps it pumping until the ugly end.

The Mist's grossly tentacled who-knows-whats and giant flying insect thingees are as shuddersome as they come.
