Earlier this year, Cary Joji Fukunaga’s debut feature Sin Nombre collected awards for Best Director and Best Cinematography at the Sundance Film Festival.

The images of gang life and stray shots of the Mexican countryside and people tossing food to the travelers atop the train are unforgettable.

It contains risk, violence, a little romance, even fleeting moments of humor, but most of all, it sees what danger and heartbreak are involved. It is riveting from start to finish.
