The Night of the Hunter

"The Night of the Hunter" is a chilling 1955 noir classic about a charismatic serial killer and self-proclaimed preacher named Harry Powell who terrorizes two young children in a small West Virginia town during the Great Depression in order to get his hands on a stash of $10,000 hidden by their ex-con father. Despite his best efforts at seducing the children's mother, Willa, and marrying her, the terrifying Powell is ultimately thwarted by John and Pearl's determination to keep their father's secret and their flight down the Ohio River with the help of an elderly friend and a tough but kind woman named Rachel Cooper. The film features Robert Mitchum in an unforgettable performance as the psychotic Powell.
