Mardaani

Mardaani is a 2014 Indian action thriller film directed by Pradeep Sarkar and produced by Aditya Chopra. The film follows Senior Inspector Shivani Shivaji Roy (Rani Mukerji) as she investigates the kidnapping of a teenage girl, Pyari, who has been sold into prostitution by a ruthless mafia kingpin, Karan Rastogi (Tahir Raj Bhasin). Shivani's pursuit of Karan becomes a personal vendetta as she faces off against him in a cat-and-mouse game. The film explores themes of child sex trafficking, police corruption, and the exploitation of women. The title Mardaani means "manly" or "macho" in Hindi, which is ironic given the film's focus on the abuse and exploitation of women. Mardaani received generally positive reviews from critics, with many praising Rani Mukerji's performance as Shivani. The film was also a commercial success, grossing over 600 million rupees worldwide.
